A Wellness advocate with doTERRA is someone who has signed up with the intention to do the business and make money with doTERRA.  When you first sign up to doTERRA you have the choice between a Wellness Advocate and a Wellness Customer. The only difference in the sign up process when you choose Wellness Advocate is that you provide doTERRA with your social security number.  This is for tax purposes. If you make any money with doTERRA they are required to have your social security number by law. It doesn’t cost any extra.

Only Wellness Advocates can earn an income with doTERRA.

You can become a dōTERRA Wellness Advocate by joining with an advocate who you connect with and can provide the training and extra value you will need to succeed. The next steps are to create an account within doTERRA and start with an enrollment kit that contains essential oils that you like.
Joining on your own means that you will be placed on the doTERRA’s orphan tree and randomly be assigned a mentor to work with.

How much does it cost to join and sign up for doTERRA?

doTERRA charges a $35 membership fee to set up an account.  Not only does this account allow you to earn an income with doTERRA but it gives you access to wholesale pricing. Wholesale pricing is 25% less than retail

Below I will guide you step by step to sign up with doTERRA and become a Wellness Advocate.

STEP 1: Visit the doTERRA website.

You will be joining as an independent Wellness Advocate. This means that you are intending to do the business. You will also be getting extra support to grow your business, and help in learning about doterra essential oils from an experienced doTERRA consultant.

Choosing one of these two options below can save you time to begin with doTERRA.

  • Option 1. Visit the doterra website by clicking this link. This process is explained in the steps below, where you basically have a choice to choose which doTERRA enrollment kit you want to get started with.

  • Option 2. This second sign up link will allow you to SKIP to STEP 8 and you will be directly invited to become a doTERRA Wellness Advocate for a $35 fee, without making the choice of what starter kit to choose or buying other products. This is the cheapest option if you want to become a Wellness Advocate.
    However, with this option you don't get any oils just an account with doTERRA. The starter kits all have oils and the $35 fee is waived so it can be a better route to get a starter kit in most cases

Important! If you choose Option 1 to sign up with doTERRA, just follow the steps below. If you choose the Option 2, continue from Step 6.

STEP 2: Click on Become a Member

When you get to the page above, just click the Become a Member button.

STEP 3: Choose your Region and Language

Simply choose a region of where your products want to be shipped and what is your preferred language.

STEP 4: Add Enrollment Kit (optional)

The best way to get started with an account is to buy one of doTERRA’s enrollment kits.  The great thing about getting a kit is that the $35 set up fee is waived. This means that you are just getting oils.  Even better some of the larger kits you can save even more and incur other benefits. The kits start at $105 all the way up to $570. Most people start with the kits in the $150 range. There are lots of great options to choose from to get you started in your business with doTERRA.

What kit you get is up to you and won’t affect your ability to be successful in doTERRA.

STEP 5: Choose an additional product on the ADD Products Page (optional)

At this page you have the option to have a look at the additional products like diffusers that doTERRA is selling. If you don’t want to choose something at this point and just continue with your enrollment in doTERRA, just press the Shopping Bag button.

STEP 6: Review your Enrollment Order

If you haven’t picked any doTERRA products or enrollment kits, you can join doTERRA with only $35. You also have the option to change your kit. If you are satisfied with your changes, just press proceed to checkout.

STEP 7:  Choose “doTERRA Wellness Advocate” account and enter information about yourself.

Enter information about yourself and choose the doTERRA Wellness Advocate option.
Keep in mind that you will be asked for your Social Security Number, as this is required for tax reporting purposes when you earn commissions.

If you signed up for a Wellness Customer account and decided later that you wanted to earn an income with doTERRA you can upgrade at any time.  It is super easy to upgrade. It doesn’t cost anything either. When you want to upgrade you can either call into or chat with doTERRA customer service and let them know you want to upgrade or you can log into your account, go to your account profile and upgrade yourself.

Earning an income with doTERRA is fun and rewarding.  The great thing with building a business with doTERRA is that you don’t have to worry about inventory, shipping, customer service, accounting, legal and other aspects of starting a traditional business.  You can focus entirely on helping people to live their best and most healthy life.

So, how do doTERRA wellness advocates make money?

There are three ways Wellness Advocates get paid.  Before we get into how we get paid we need to discuss PV or Product Value.  doTERRA pays based off PV. Most oils are $1 = 1 PV. Other products like diffusers aren’t 1 to 1 they might be $1 = 0.6 PV.  To get paid in doTERRA you are required to maintain a monthly LRP (Loyalty Rewards Program) order of 100 PV or more.

  1. Fast Start – When someone first signs up to doTERRA and buys oils or a kit, doTERRA pays out fast start.  Fast start is paid out to the person who is the enroller. The enroller is simply the person who introduced them to doTERRA and helped them get signed up.  doTERRA pays out 20% to the enroller. If you enroll someone with 100 PV worth of product then you would get paid $20. Then the person who enrolled you gets paid 10%, and the person who enrolled them gets paid 5% of the PV.  Fast start is paid out for the first 60 days of the new person on anything they order. When you are new to the business most of your income will come from fast start. Fast start is paid out by doTERRA on a weekly basis.

2. Power of 3 – This is a bonus based on structure and getting people on LRP (monthly ordering program).  If you have 3 people that are on your frontline on your team who are each ordering $150 worth of product then you can get a $50 bonus.  Then if those three people are each getting their $50 bonuses then you get a $250 bonus. If those 3 people are each getting their $250 bonus then you will get a $1500 bonus.

3. Unilevel and Leadership Bonus – This is where your residual income comes from in doTERRA.  As you sign up people and your team grows you start to make money on unilevel. This is simply what you get paid on the volume on your team.  doTERRA has a very generous unilevel plan. Unilevel is paid on orders under you that aren’t in the fast start (first 60 days) period. You get paid 2% for orders on your front line all the way to 7% for orders on your 7th level.  As your team grows this is where the majority of your income will come from.  doTERRA also has leadership bonuses that pay out on a monthly basis for the rank you are that month.  These range from $160 for Silver all the way up to $30,000 for Presidential Diamond.

According to the dōTERRA 2017 Opportunity and Earnings Disclosure Summary the doTERRA consultants who decided to build a business with doTERRA and got the lowest Silver rank, they averaged $27,557 annually. I am a Wholesale Customer, can i become a doTERRA Wellness Advocate too?

You can only have one account per household with doTERRA.  You can’t have both a Wholesale Customer account and a Wellness Advocate account at the same time.  If you currently have a wholesale customer account you can at anytime and for free upgrade to a Wellness Advocate account and become a doTERRA seller.

What is the difference between doTERRA advocate, consultant or representative?

doTERRA Advocate is - A doTERRA advocate is a person who intends to make a commission with doTERRA.  They will have a Wellness Advocate account. It has all the benefits of a Wellness Customer with the added bonus of being able to earn an income with doTERRA.

doTERRA Consultants are - A doTERRA Independent Consultant is another term for someone who is intending to earn a commission with doTERRA.  This is an older term that was used a number of years ago. Wellness Advocates used to be called Independent Product Consultants which was often shortened to just consultant.

doTERRA Representative is - A doTERRA essential oils representative is another term for a Wellness Advocate which is someone who intends to make a commission with doTERRA.  Becoming a doTTERA rep is a term that comes from other Network Marketing companies calling their business builders Reps or Representatives.

Below I share my 5 tips for new and welcomed doTERRA Wellness Advocates. Keep in mind that it is never too late to start a doTERRA business.

  1. Finding a good mentor in doTERRA is very important. This is a crucial step if you want to build a successful business. Your upline is full of information, and they will probably give you a guide on how to do everything properly. Don't be afraid to ask as many questions as you can.

  2. Start your own doTERRA research and learn how everything works. But first read the Introductory Packet brochures, the doTERRA Business Language, and any information that your mentor can provide. There you will learn how to share the doTERRA essential oils and how to build a successful team.
    We provide a step by step training program to walk you through the steps of becoming a successful leader in doTERRA. It makes it very easy to know what you need to do to be successful. So get plugged into our trainings as soon as you can.

  3. The best thing you can do in getting started is to use doTERRA oils. Getting your own experiences and testimonials will be key in growing your business. If you don't use the doTERRA products then it is harder to get other people to use it as well.

  4. Don't be afraid to teach a class with your upline and maybe teach a class on your own. For some doTERRA Wellness advocates this might be one of the hardest steps in building a business, but it might be necessary if you want your business to grow. Teaching is also the best way to learn, and for some it can be as simple as telling your experience with the oils. 

  5. It is satisfying feeling when you build a team and having people working with you and sharing your experiences. It really is as simple as talking about the doTERRA business opportunity with other people.
